Wrist, shoulder and neck discomfort are common complaints in mountain biking – even with suspension. Some of our regulars ride totally rigid bikes (no suspension at all), and are able to do this by relaxing on the bike and absorbing the shocks through their arms and legs, with no discomfort at all. The ‘death grip’ is what causes wrist and neck discomfort. Leaning to relax, and ‘float’ over the bike, is the easy way to prevent or overcome aching wrists and shoulders.

We're all different, which means training tips and suggestions don't always work out the same way for all people - if you think one of our tips is duff or just doesn't work for you - or if you have other points or comments to add - why not let us know on the club forum...
