The PTTL awards night will take place at 8.00 pm Monday 6th November at Portchester Parish Hall in Castle Street(check this map). This is an American Supper style do - so bring a dish of something tasty (sweet or savoury) for people to share and don't forget your lemonade!

From now on, the Sunday club run will start at Titchfield Mill - 09:00 as usual but will then head to Wickham Square to pick up riders there at 09:20. Non-members are welcome to come try the club run - if you enjoy it and want to ride with us again please join our club - you can join by post or come along to the club meeting - membership is only �10 a year for riders who don't want to compete in Time Trials or Road Races.

The rain cleared up, the sun came out and it was a lovely evening if you were up on the top of Portsdown hill. 16 riders were, however, at the bottom of the hill facing the ascent of Portchester Lane. Ben Heinrich of i-team (and a 2nd claim Fareham Wheeler) stormed up the hill receiving well deserved applause at the top for his time of 2 minutes 41.5 seconds - only 9 seconds off the record held by Ashley Morris. Geoff Loveman took the Lush Hill Climb Cup as fastest Fareham Wheeler and Graham White took the Vets Hill climb cup. You can check the full results here...

A bit of a breeze for the a3crg open 10 mile TT on the P881 this evening. Roger DeVere, Roy Bailey and Geoff Loveman all rode, with Roger finishing in 24:54, Roy in 24:27 and Geoff riding a p.b. for ten miles of 22:33. You can check the full results here...

Dave Rich and Stan Maidwell rode in the Farnham RC 25 mile open TT. Stan rode a 1:06:30 and Dave continued his string of bests by breaking the hour for the first time with a 59:56, well done guys.

The British Heart Foundation ride Round the Harbours takes place on Sunday June 11th. They need helpers, in particular a couple of volunteers who would be willing to help out at the Fareham checkpoint. Cover is needed for the following times:

07.30 - 11.00 - to help set up during the busy registration period;

13.00 - 17.00 - to help see the riders coming through, stamping the
passport cards and to help close & pack away. Last year Fareham Wheelers supported this event - if you can help out this year please contact Laura Kyte on 01892 893917

Chris Morrall, Fareham Wheeler and regular Etape du Tour rider has been honing his bunch skills and speed in preparation for this years event by representing FWCC at the Goodwood Gallops on Tuesday nights for the past 3 weeks. He has picked up a few points with a win on the first prime last week. The Surrey League website has the results for each week.

Geoff Loveman and Phil Burton rode in the Hantspol Portsdown Spring Road Race. Bad luck struck for Phil - he was forced to abandon early on due to mechanical trouble. Geoff managed to stick with the lead group, finishing 22nd on the fifth time up the hill. You can check the results here.

Phil Burton rode in the Surrey League Cats 2 and 3 event at Milland Hill, Basingstoke and quite a hill it is. Phil was pleased to finish 31st in the lead bunch, having no sprint left in his legs after sixty miles and the ninth time up the the 20%+ gradient climb. Check the results here.

Andy Kienzle kicked off a good Easter weekend for Fareham Wheelers in the Bournemouth Arrow CC 10 mile open TT on the P311, placing 20th and boosting Fareham Wheelers up the South DC Teams league table by 45 points - nice one! You can check the results here.

Heavy clouds loomed overhead, threatening cancellation for this evening's 10 mile TT on the P813. Fortunately the light was good enough for the small field of riders who turned out - you can check the results here.

Fareham Wheelers Luke Cole and Phil Burton both rode in the Omega Thruxton Circuits today. Luke rode well to finish in the bunch in the Cat 4 race. The weather turned nasty for Phil's race though and having missed the break he wisely chose to abandon for a cup of tea rather than slog round in the downpour. Check the full results here.

The first evening TT of 2006 will be held on the P813 on Thursday April 13th. HQ is the Traveller's Rest, Newtown. Please park in the field at the back of the pub. First rider off at 18:45. Gareth is promoting this one so see him at clubnight or enter on the line on Thursday evening.

Fareham Wheelers James Terry and Geoff Loveman rode in the CC Weymouth 10 mile TT. Both rode p.b.'s for the distance, despite blustery conditions. James took the prize for best Line 1 improvement - so look out for his name in Cycling Weekly! You can check the full results here.

The rain held off for Fareham Wheelers Luke Cole and Geoff Loveman who rode in the Cat. 4 circuit race at Thruxton. Geoff jumped off the front of the bunch with one lap to go but was swallowed up and spat out the back, almost in sight of the finish. Luke sensibly ignored this foolhardy attack to finish well in the bunch.
