Report from Roger:

The first problem we had was the road works on the Southwick road which meant we had to shorten the course to about 9.2ish miles.

The second problem we had was when we were readying for sign on at about 6 o’clock the heavens opened leaving the event in question. It had been raining on and off all day so I was quite surprised when 18 intrepid souls turned up and signed on. So we all took shelter where we could and waited to see what happened. By 6:20 it had blown over and a we were treated to a beautiful rainbow which appeared to end at the start line – a good omen.

So at 1846 with the sky much clearer, temp only 7 or 8 deg C , good light and the wind dropping we were able to start on time. I'm pleased to say that all riders came equipped with rear lights.

The first rider off was Nige M and 24 mins or so later he was first man home. We had one DNF – Pete Younghusband.

Best time was Nick Andrews PNE with 22:13 followed by Andy Shackel (VC St Raphael)with 22:33, who was first Junior, and 3rd was Gary Ferrett (HRC) with 22:57. The first FWCC rider was Ian Horlock with 24:07.

Thanks to Phil M for pushing off, Don B for starting the riders, Henry for doing the sign-on and Nigel Sign who marshalled the end of the loop.
