Fareham Wheelers

"There are few moments that actually change your life forever, and for me joining Fareham Wheelers Cycling Club was one of those," Henry Newbury!

Fareham Wheelers caters for all standards of cycling, from beginner & youth to veteran. The club has a friendly atmosphere and is also competitive when it comes to racing and time trials.

Every Sunday morning throughout the year, we meet for a Club group ride - the “club run”. With three groups to choose from, you can join in either the social/taster group, the intermediate group or the fast group around the Hampshire countryside, finishing at a tea shop for refreshment. Rides vary between 25 to 60 miles, you choose.

During the spring and summer season the club holds time trials over various distances and promotes two road races. FWCC has an active road racing team, which is supported by Speltham Contracts. Several members take part in racing at the Mountbatten Centre track at Portsmouth and at the Thruxton and Goodwood circuits.

Whether you ride for leisure or sport, cycling is a great way to get fit and stay in shape and a club is the best place to get started, share advice, find out about cycling events and of course, enjoy riding with other keen cyclists. We meet socially on Tuesday evenings at Catisfield Memorial Hall, Fareham, 7:30 to 9:30 pm. For more details, follow the options under the About Us heading in the menu above.

Dr Hutch will be attending FWCC Annual Awards Dinner

Our annual dinner will be on Friday 24th February at the Wickham Community Centre at 19:00. It will be a Hot Buffet as in previous years. This year we have been able to secure the services of multiple nation champion Michael Hutchinson to present the awards and give us a 'little Chat'. Tickets will be £20 for Members and £10 for under 18 and they are available from me (RdV) at club evenings from the 3rd January. I strongly recommend that you take this opportunity to attend and listen to Great Britain's foremost Time-Trialist of recent times. You can also pay by direct bank transfer please request details via my email: rdv@fareham-wheelers.org.uk. If I don't sell all our tickets to FWCC members by the 17th January I will open it up to other clubs in the area who have already expressed interest in attending.

Club Membership

A new year is upon us and it's time to renew your membership of the club. We have held our subscriptions at the same level as last year ie £20 for Full (riding) members, £10 for Associate (non-riding) members and for Juniors under 18, and £1 for under 14's (Youth members).

It's easy to pay. You can send a cheque directly to Bob, or pay him at the club on Tuesday nights. The club organises many events over the year and although we keep our overheads to a minimum we need a strong membership to help fund them.
